Gianluca has produced many video art pieces over the years, some of these in collaboration with other artists (Julia Maddison) and several choreographers (Irene Cioni, Rebecca Bogue, Sarah Dowling). “I Can’t Help Myself!” – With Julia Maddison – 2024 (Winner of the 3rd prize “WAVE” Video Contest, Lisbon)

A video Art work created with choreographer and performer Irene Cioni and premiered at “Dissolvenze”exhibition – Diocesan Museum, October-November  2019, Padua (Italy). 

“Rite” was inspired by mum and all those ladies that as a kid I used to observe while they were knitting and whispering prayers at the same time.

The ordinary action of knitting along with the will to pray can become an extraordinary and powerful rite expressed through a multitude of shapes, trails and shades. Knitting and praying is a spiritually fulfilling practice producing a visually enchanting hand dance accompanied by the whispers of a wishful voice.

“Susan and Susan” – Winner of the 2008 Channel 4 FourDocs competition called “My family and other animals”, this super short doc tells the story of a girl who develops a very special bond with snails inhabiting her back garden, where she often goes to stay away from her drunken father. Aired in June 2008 on Channel 4 prime time. Created with Rebecca Bogue.

“Flight” – Experimental movement-based short film created with Agnes Treplin for the University of Arts of London – 2017.

“Io” (“I”) – A video work created in April 2021 with Simona Marletta premiered in a group show in Padua (Italy) titled “We The People”.  This piece was created while lockdowns were heavily affecting people’s lives and it’s one of two videos that I managed to shoot despite the huge limitations we were all suffering during the pandemic.

“Ansia” (Anxiety )- Created with Julia Maddison this video premiered at the EMPIRE II Age of Anxiety show – Biennale of Venice 2017.
