Sensum – The texture of the spirit
Existing in a state of pure gesture, the hands are the manifestation of pure light. The pervasive whiteness is not a background; it is an infinite space where the boundaries of the individual (or merging of individuals) dissolve into the universal. We are invited to look past the physical anatomy and see the intricate, fragile geometry of a spirit making itself visible.
Sensum is a Latin word referring to the essence felt and understood as one. To engage with this series of photographs and the video art by the same title is to move beyond the act of looking. It is an invitation to enter a high-frequency state of awareness where the observer and the observed are one.
“In the white-on-white vision, we lose the horizon, but we find the centre.”
